Left Circulatory Network and Pneumatic Ventricular Assist Device (VAD).

Open loop network with:  atrial reservoir (preload), left ventricle and systemic arterial tree. The behavior of the native ventricle is implemented as reported in "Numerical Hart Model (1)" section. The left ventricular assist device (LVAD) in modelled as described in "Pulsatile Flow Pump" section. LAP is the left atrial pressure, LVP is the left ventricular pressure, AoP is the aortic pressure. MV is the mitral valve and AV is the aortic valve. Cas (Ras) is the systemic arterial compliance (systemic variable peripheral resistance). Rcs (Ls) is the characteristic systemic resistance (inertance). Qli is the (Qlo) input (output) ventricular flow. MV and AV are modelled using resistances and diodes.

Left Circulatory Network with LVAD and Systemic Arterial Tree Implemented Using Three RLC Elements.

The pnumatic pulsatile left ventricular assist device (LVAD) is modelled as described in "Pulsatile Flow Pump" section. The open loop network consists of: atrial reservoir (preload), left ventricle and systemic arterial tree (SAT) composed of aortic, thoracic and abdominal tracts. RAT, CAT and LAT are the resistance, compliance and inertance describing the behavior of the aortic tract.RTT (RABT), CAT (CABT) and LAT (LABT) are the resistances, compliances and inertances describing the behavior of the thoracic (abdominal) tract. LAP is the left atrial pressure, LVP is the left ventricular pressure. MV is the mitral valve and AV is the aortic valve. MV and AV are modelled using resistances and diodes. Ras is the systemic arterial peripheral (variable) resistance. Qli (Qlo) is the input (output) ventricular flow. The behavior of the native ventricle is implemented as reported in "Numerical Hart Model (1)" section.
